Srinagar: The University of Kashmir has secured 47th position among universities assessed in the country in the National Institutional Ranking Framework-2018. A KU spokesman said it is the first time ever a J&K university has secured this rank since NIRF was introduced.
NIRF results were announced on Tuesday by HRD Minister Prakash Javadaker.
KU has also bagged overall ranking of 71 from amongst more than 4000 institutions (including universities, IITs IITs, IISERs, IISC and other institutions ) assessed by the MHRD under NIRF
KU’s last year’s ranking was 73 among universities and beyond 100 in overall ranking among all institutions.
JU has in this year’s NIRF figured at overall rank of 77, with position of 51 among the universities’ category
The last year’s score of the University of Kashmir was 36.32. This year it is 43.96.
KU has University has scored 62.39 (out of 100) in the Teaching Learning Resources (TLR), 20.08 in Research and Professional Practice, 77.61 in Graduation Outcomes (GO) and 36.99 in Outreach and Inclusivity (OI), Perception (0.0).
In perception, University is behind mainly due to locational disadvantages and overall situation in the place
The point score of JU is 43.19—TLR (65.22), RPC (18.20), GO (69.46), OI (39.44) and Perception (1.22).
The NIRF was approved by the MHRD and launched on 29th September 2015. It outlines a methodology to rank institutions across the country. The methodology draws from the overall recommendations broad understanding arrived at by a Core Committee set up by MHRD, to identify the broad parameters for ranking various universities and institutions. The parameters broadly cover “Teaching, Learning and Resources,” “Research and Professional Practices,” “Graduation Outcomes,” “Outreach and Inclusivity,” and “Perception.”
