IGP Traffic gets encroached pavement evacuated at Rajbagh

Srinagar: Inspector General of Police Traffic, Basant Rath Tuesday got a pavement encroached by a prominent restaurant at Rajbagh evacuated after complaints by local residents.
A traffic department official told Kashmir Reader that Hattrick Restaurant had occupied a large chunk of pavement outside the restaurant where it had installed refrigerators and confectionary counters.
He said that scores of people had made requests to IG Traffic Basant Rath to get the occupied space by the restaurant cleared.
He said that taking cognizance of the complaints, Rath asked restaurant owner to clear the road within a stipulated time. However, when he didn’t oblige, Rath appeared himself, called SMC Chief Anti-Encroachment Officer and asked him to get the space illegally occupied by the owner cleared.
Witnesses said that SMC Anti-Encroachment Officer Ghulam Rasool Dar acted swiftly and removed all the stuff from the road.
An SMC official said that the restaurant owner had encroached on the road that was cleared accordingly.
