Srinagar: Muneeb Ahmad, 15, who was injured in army firing in Rai-Kapran village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday, is battling for life at the Intensive Care Unit of SMHS Hospital.
Muneeb Ahmad son of Abdul Majeed of Gopalpora village in Shopian has received bullet on backside leaving behind a shattered liver and seriously damaged internal organs.
He is under treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of SMHS Hospital but his condition continues to be critical.
Doctors treating him said bullet had shattered his liver leading to serious injuries.
“Bullet has damaged his liver completely. His other organs are also affected so much that he is unable to come out of shock making him completely dependent on Ventilator. It’s very difficult to predict this case,” Medical Superintendent, Dr Saleem Tak told Kashmir Reader.
He said doctors were closely monitoring his condition as next three days are very critical for him.
On Sunday, Muneeb was playing cricket in a playground (also known as Batebagh) of Rai-Kpapran village when forces allegedly targeted him.
“Our village is around 5 kilometers from Drugged village where encounter was going on. Army targeted him at Rai-Kapran village when they were coming back from the encounter site. Other boys who rushed to help him were also injured. Muneeb has been left battling for life,” Abdul Majeed, his father told Kashmir Reader.
Majeed who is accompanied by his neighbourhood friends and brother are sitting outside the ICU awaiting his recovery.
A 9th class student, Majeed has been seriously following cricket and he was part of the local team who were playing finals of the cricket tournament.
“He was very bright student and a passionate cricketer. He was very happy on Sunday before the home to play the final match,” his father said.
“They have left him in lifeless,” he said.
Doctors are hesitant to tell us his real condition as his condition was very critical as most of the internal organs are affected.
“Let’s hope and pray that he recovers soon,” they said.
