SRINAGAR: The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and Muhammad Yaseen Malik has called for a complete strike on Monday against the killings of militants and civilians in south Kashmir. The call has been supported by Kashmir Economic Alliance, which is headed by Haji Mohammed Yasin Khan.
In a statement issued here, tbe JRL said that people should also observe April 1 as a black day in Kashmir’s history of subjugation under Indian rule. The trio asked for funeral prayers in absentia to be offered for the martyrs after Zuhr and Asr prayers on Monday. The leaders also asked people to stay vigilant against the conspiracies aimed at “disintegration of freedom loving people and the leadership.”
The JRL condemned the use of brute force against the peaceful public processions in Kachdooru, Shopian and Anantnag .
“These repressive measures can’t deter the freedom loving people from their sacred cause of right to self-determination,” the trio said.
The leaders paid rich tributes to the killed militants and civilians.
