Thousands attend funeral prayers of slain Hizb militant in Anantnag

Thousands of the people Sunday attended the funeral prayers of slain Hizb militant Rouf Khanday, at his native village in Dehruna in Anantnag district.
Local sources said that people in thousands marched to the village from adjoining villages to attend Rouf’s funeral prayers. They raised pro-freedom and anti-India slogans, reports said.
Khanday was killed during a gunfight with government forces in “Peth Dialgam” Village of Anantnag.
Police in a statement said that a joint team of police, army’s 19 RR and CRPF launched a cordon at Dialgam village during the intervening night of March 31 and April 1.
“One militant Rouf Bashir Khanday was killed while another militant surrendered,” he police statement said.
