SHOPIAN: Militants on Saturday evening attacked an army vehicle in south Kashmir’s Shopian district. However, there was no loss of life or injury, sources said.
The militants, hiding in orchards, fired many shots at a bullet proof army vehicle in Nullay Poshwari village of Shopian, they said, adding that after firing, the militants managed to escape.
The army vehicle was returning after winding up a checkpoint near Kennigam village, local sources said. As it reached near Nullay village, militants fired at it.
The army soldiers retaliated by firing which created panic in the area.
SSP Shopian A S Dinkar told Kashmir Reader that few shots were heard in Nullay village. He however said police have no reports of any attack on army vehicle.
“We are investigating the matter,” SSP Shopian said.
