Srinagar: A fresh application has been filed before Jammu and Kashmir High Court seeking directions to set up fire and emergency unit in the vicinity of GB Panth hospital.
The application has been filed on grounds that there is a need of fire and emergency unit at the hospital so as to avoid any untoward incident.
The application was filed by Dr. Rouf Mohi-ud-Din through his counsel, advocate Shah Faisal who said “the fire emergency unit should be installed and the entry point of the hospital should be widened and made free of all encroachment.”
The application reads that on the intervening night of 17-18 January 2018 a mysterious fire broke out at the entrance of the hospital which burnt down the metallic shed. It was a small incident but it has a larger impact if precautionary measures are not taken for now.
“The incident reflects the sense of the sorry state of affairs at the hospital and also shows the sense of non-preparedness of the administration,” said the application.
The local fire tenders of Fire and Emergency service at Batmaloo would take an hour to reach the hospital as the area always remains in traffic jam. “The place where fire tenders needs to be setup has been encroached by shopkeepers. The entry point of the hospital has been narrowed due to the encroachment which hampers the passage of ambulances and other vehicles in and out of the hospital”, reads the application.
