‘Integrating component of physical activities with parks essential’

JAMMU: Secretary Floriculture, Talat Parvez Rohella on Friday visited the Flower Garden Bohr Camp, Jammu and inspected the progress on Phase I of the park development project.
He also took a detailed stock of the amenities to be developed on the 563 kanal park in two phases by the floriculture department.
According to an official handout, the Phase I would include development of various sections including children’s park, rose garden, lake, waterfall, open air theatre and an extensive botanical garden equipped with various indigenous and exotic varieties.
Stressing on importance of developing such public spaces in the city, the secretary asked for making concerted efforts to ensure time bound completion of this project. He also asked the officers to undertake and expedite the plantation for the park as per schedule.
He said, “It is very essential to integrate component of physical activities with the parks for people of all ages and provide them with multifaceted recreational options so that parks re-emerge as centers for social gathering, exchange of ideas and learning.”
He also took stock of the developmental works at floriculture garden at Bagh-e-Bahu, the handout added.
