SRINAGAR: The mother of an 18-yearl-old Srinagar boy – whose picture with a rifle went viral on social media – Wednesday appealed her son to return home.
Faid Mushtaq Waza, resident of Kawa Mohallah Khanyar in Srinagar, had been missing from some days.
Faid’s mother, along with family members, assembled in Press Enclave here and appealed her son to shun militancy and return home.
According to the family, Faid left home on March 23 to attend a three-days tableegi jamat programme but did not return home since.
“Those who join militant ranks are my sons too. I respect all of them, but Faid is too young. I appeal them to send my son back home, and then I can die in peace,” said Faid’s mother Mymoona.
Faid’s brother Umer Waza said that after Faid failed to turn up after three days, the family lodged a missing report at Police Station Khanyar. “We were shocked to see his viral picture on social media holding an assault rifle” he said.
