SRINAGAR: In the history of modern theatre in Kashmir Valley, a celebrated theatre group EKJUTH presented its famous play Salaam 1950s Kay Naam, written and directed by Nadira Zaheer Babbar, here at Tagore Hall.
The function was organised by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in collaboration with Directorate of Tourism, Kashmir, in connection with World Theatre Day celebrations. The artists mesmerised and enthralled the audience with their sparkling performance, an official statement issued here said.
Secretary JKAACL, Dr. Aziz Hajini, in his welcome address said that the academy has specially organised this performance by Nadira Zaheer Babbar on the occasion of World Theatre Day. He said theatre is a powerful instrument for social change and that academy has been encouraging theatre related activities at various levels.
Nadira Zaheer Babbar, while expressing her views said it has been her cherished dream to perform at Tagore Hall Srinagar and she realised this dream. The academy felicitated Nadira by presenting her a Kashmiri shawl.
The function was attended by prominent theatre personalities, writers and art lovers. Proceedings of the function were conducted by Mohammad Ashraf Tak, Chief Editor, JKAACL.
