‘Handicrafts industry vital in economic dev of state’

BARAMULLA: Additional Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla Farooq Ahmad Baba on Tuesday inaugurated an awareness-cum-registration camp organised by the handicrafts department at Sheerwani Hall Baramulla in which a many local of artisans participated.
The ADC, who was the chief guest on the occasion, highlighted the role of handicrafts department in imparting to training to the people of rural areas aimed at generating self employment.
He also urged the artisans to avail the benefits of schemes run by the department. He emphasised upon them to avail benefits of Artisan Credit Card Scheme from the banks to boost their business.
He asserted that banks should adopt beneficiary-friendly approach and credited the need for finalise the sponsored cases in a time-bound manner.
He said handicrafts industry of the state has vital importance in the economic development of the state as lakhs of people were directly or indirectly attached to it.
