Budgam: Clashes broke out between the government forces and protesters in Chadoora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday afternoon amid complete shutdown in the town.
The youth took to streets and held protests on the first death anniversary of three youth killed in firing by the forces at the site of a gunfight in Chadoora last year.
The youth after offering prayers at the grave of Amir Fayaz Waza – one of the three slain youth – in Wathoora chowk pelted the forces with stones, triggering clashes.
The forces responded by firing tear gas to disperse the protesters, witnesses said.
Top police officials said that police and paramilitary forces have been deployed in strength in the area to thwart any kind of untoward incident.
