SRINAGAR: The resistance leaders and activists on Friday staged a protest against the “illegal” detention of leadership in Tihar jail, saying that prisoners there are ill-treated and are facing inhumane treatment by jail authorities, a statement issued by the Syed Ali Geelani-led Hurriyat said.
“It is an eye opener for the champions of human rights,” the statement said.
The leaders and activists demanded immediate release and unconditional shifting of all Kashmiri prisoners lodged in various jails outside state to Kashmir, saying those arrested by NIA are being subjected to political vendetta.
They also sought release of political prisoners languishing in jails for decades and an end to the “misuse” of the Public Safety Act (PSA) including those lodged in Tihar jail after NIA raids.
