Fine of Rs 3 lakh imposed on erring traders in Sgr, Budgam

SRINAGAR: Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Budgam has realized fine of Rs 1.7 lakh from 1248 shopkeepers during 3330 market checking conducted across the district during current fiscal.
Assistant Director FCS&CA Budgam Mushtaq Ahmad Kaloo, while sharing the details said that department during market checking realized fine of Rs 1.7 lakh from erring shopkeepers for violating the rate list, indulging in overcharging and selling poor quality food items.
The Court of Adjudicating Officer (Additional Deputy Commissioner) Srinagar Vikas Kundal also imposed a fine of Rs 1.4 lakhs on 12 Food Business Operators for selling substandard and misbranded food items.
Meanwhile, 40 fresh cases have been instituted by the Food Safety wing of Drugs & Food Control Organisation in the court of Adjudicating Officer Srinagar against various Food Business Operators for violating different provisions of Food Safety and Standards Act.
