Inaugurates Kisan Mela at Udhampur
UDHAMPUR: To uplift socio-economic condition of farmers, Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura exhorted upon agriculture department to take appropriate measures for providing benefits of different schemes to them.
The minister said this after inaugurating one-day exhibition-cum-Kisan Mela here on Friday.
The minister in a statement said that the purpose of organising such programmes is to sensitise farmers about new technology and high yielding variety of seeds being introduced in agriculture sector to increase productivity and to provide better marketing facilities to farmers.
He emphasised on the need for imparting training to farmers for using latest technology and to adopt better agricultural practices especially in far-off and distantly located areas to boost agricultural production.
Hanjura said that the government was making efforts for sustained growth of agriculture sector by introducing several innovative measures to enable the farmers to get maximum returns from their land.
He stressed upon the officers to ensure effective implementation of government schemes meant for farmer community. “This will help in achieving the target of doubling the income of farmers by 2022”, he asserted.
The minister also inspected stalls set up by various departments and felicitated the progressive farmers.
