Srinagar: Militant outfit Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen has appointed Saifullah Kashmiri as new district commander for Srinagar in place of Eisa Fazili, who was killed in a gun-battle last week.
In a press statement, the outfit said that appointment of Fazili’s companion was made to “continue his services for the ongoing movement in Kashmir”.
“Saifullah Kashmiri’s appointment was announced in a meeting of TuM chaired by Amir Sheikh Jamil-ur-Rahman,” the statement said.
According to the statement Rahman told the meeting that India will not succeed in Kashmir by “linking Kashmir’s freedom movement” with any global network.
“Our mission is freedom and our target is Indian forces and formations,” he said.
He said that common people of India including women, children and old aged persons were not TuM’s target, whether they belong of any caste, creed, religion or region.
