Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Tuesday granted two days to state government to file objections in the SKIMS director removal row.
The court had stayed the government order whereby director, SKIMS Dr A G Ahanger was dismissed from his post. The court had asked government to file the objections as to why Dr Ahanger was not reinstated as Director SKIMS despite court orders.
The single bench of Justice MK Hanjura made orders after it was informed that the state government has not filed the objections in the main petition yet.
The petition was filed by Dr Ahanger against the order relieving him from his post of director.
The petition said that one of the private national television exhibited sting operation, showing that three doctors, being faculty members of SKIMS were found indulging in private practice which was not within the knowledge of petitioner.
Dr Ahanger mentioned in his petition that he suspected that his removal was for the benefit of the same doctors and also suspected that there is a plan to engage somebody else in his position.
Advocate Zaffar Shah, representing Dr Ahanger had said the impugned order is not based on any report or recommendation and there has been no process leading to the passage of the order.
On the other side, Advocate General, Jehangir Iqbal Ganai said that Dr Ahanger has not been removed in the technical sense as the order is outcome of proper exercise conducted by the authority and it has been done on interim measure. The court further has listed the matter on 30 March.
