Srinagar: The students of Government Dental College and Hospital Srinagar Tuesday joined the classes after Divisional Commissioner Kashmir assured them that all their grievances will be addressed and academics will be streamlined.
However, the students said that protest will continue until the government issues an order to appoint permanent in charge of the Orthodontics department in place of Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq.
Hailing the decision of the J&K Government of attaching the head of the orthodontics department, Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq the students said that Government should now issue a formal order to appoint a permanent academic in charge/guide for both undergraduate and postgraduate students of the orthodontics department
The students added that to streamline the academics and administration of the GDCH which has taken a hit over the past several years, a permanent academic in charge/guide for both undergraduate and postgraduate students of the orthodontics department is need to run the department smoothly.
“We demand government should make a permanent arrangement for the post of Principal as the administration has adversely affected over the years due to a caretaker Principal, Dr. Reyaz Farooq since 2004”, GDCH spokesperson added.
The protesting students thanked Health Minister, Minister of State for Health and Medical Education, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Doctors Association Kashmir, J&K Society of Dental Surgeons, J&K Doctors Coordination Committee for their continuous support to their protest.
