BUDGAM: The Health department has taken removed Block Medical Officer (BMO) Dr Anjum Quadir in Budgam for alleged embezzlement of funds.
An order issued by Director Health Services Kashmir Dr Saleem ur Rehman read that pending final outcome of enquiry into embezzlement made in block Budgam, Dr Anjum is attached with the director health services Kashmir with immediate effect.
“Dr A G Ahanger, district health officer Budgam shall look after the medical block till further order,” it said.
The move followed the alleged embezzlement of funds in the medical block. The funds were withdrawn on account of salaries of employees posted in the department. The employees had complained about it accusing the officials including the BMO of illegally withdrawing their salaries and not crediting it into their respective accounts.
A source said that more than Rs 50 lakh meant for the salary of employees was withdrawn from the state exchequer but the amount was not disbursed among the employees.
“Instead they (employees) were informed that salaries couldn’t be withdrawn due to non-availability of the budget,” they said.
Dr Saleem said that the investigation is being carried out and action as per rules would be taken against the accused.
