Students protest shortage of teachers in Ganderbal

Ganderbal: Hundreds of students from Government Middle School Rezan Sonamarg in Ganderbal district boycotted their classes to protest against inadequate teaching staff on Saturday.
Raising slogans against district administration and Education Department, students staged a sit-in on Srinagar -Leh highway and blocked the road leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded.
Protesting students demanded the appointment of adequate staff in the school and said that lack of teachers is affecting their studies.
“On one side the government claims of augmenting teaching infrastructure in rural areas, but on the ground the claim of the government proves hollow”, students alleged.
They added the teachers posted in their school have been deputed to other schools.
Later a police party of Police Station Gund and Naib Tehsildar Gund Mohammad Yousuf Lone rushed to the spot and assured the protesters of deploying adequate staff in the school.
On their assurance, protesting students dispersed and vehicular movement was restored on the highway.
