SRINAGAR: All Jammu and Kashmir Land donors association of P.H.E department on Saturday held a protest demonstration here in press enclave Srinagar against the Public Health and Engineering Department for not regularizing their services.
Scores of protestors assembled here in press enclave and shouted the slogans in favour of their demands.
The protesters said that government had promised them jobs instead of compensation at the time of land acquisition for a PHE project.
“Now they are not fulfilling their promise since 2000. It is grave injustice with us,” they said.
President of the Association Bashir Ahmad Yatoo said “we are the landlords who have given their land for pipeline purpose in the year 2000. The land donors were appointed as a Casual Labours in the PHE department”.
“We are performing our duties honestly. In the year 2017, the government has announced in Assembly session that all the land Donors will be given permanent Jobs within one month. But the government has not fulfilled their promises and irony is our salary has been stopped, “said Yatoo.
He further added “Now we have neither land nor job. We are depended upon this casual labour job. We have not taken any kind wages for last 19 month. Our pockets are empty from last 19 months. We can’t buy anything for the family.”
The protestors have threatened to stop the water supply in the state if the government does not decide about their regularisation till 22nd March.
The protestors said that “If the government has no plans to give us jobs I don’t have any option but to ask for the return of my land”.
