Guv, CM, DGP grieved over Sameul’s demise

JAMMU: Governor N.N. Vohra, has expressed grief over the death of S. R. Sameul, an IPS officer of the J&K cadre, who passed away on Friday.
In a message, the Governor has prayed to the Almighty for granting peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family to bear this loss.
Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has also expressed grief over the death of S R Sameul, who was currently on central deputation.
The Chief Minister has conveyed her sympathies to the bereaved family of Sameul.
Meanwhile S.P Vaid Director General of Police J&K has condoled the sudden and tragic demise of Samuel.A Police spokesperson said that a condolence meeting was held at PHQ which was chaired by V.K Singh, Special DG and attended among others by J.P Singh, IGP (Pers.) PHQ, Anand Jain, IGP (Hqrs.) PHQ, Aftab Kakroo, AIG (Pers.) PHQ, Sameer Rekhi, AIG (Trg.) PHQ, Kulbir Singh, AIG (CIV) PHQ, Rashid Mustafa, SE PHQ, Manoj Pandit, AIG (Comm.) PHQ, Nasir Khan, other Gazetted / Non-Gazetted officers.
Two minutes silence was observed and the officers present in the meeting prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul, the spokesperson said.
Speaking on the occasion Special DG termed the sudden demise of Samuel as a great loss to the J&K Police. He expressed his deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
He said that the officer had served the State and the GoI with great dedication and devotion. IGP (Hqrs.) Anand Jain described him as a very capable officer who showed his mettle in State as well as in the Centre.
On behalf of all ranks of J&K Police, Anand Jain would be attending the last rites of Samuel, the spokesperson said.
Samuel was on deputation to GoI as Joint Development Commissioner, Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises. An IPS officer of 1999 batch, he was posted in the State as SDPO Chrar-i-Sharief, ASP Jammu, AD SKPA Udhampur, SSP Leh and CO IRP 13th Bn.
The Police spokesperson also said that a condolence meeting was held in Srinagar and was attended by IGP Kashmir S.P Pani, DIG CKR V.K Birdi, SSP PCR Kashmir Shahid Mehraj, SSP Srinagar Imtiyaz Ismail, SSP Traffic Tahir Saleem and other senior officers.
The officers expressed their deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul.
