Srinagar: Terming the questioning of Syed Salahuddin’s family as ‘revengeful’, the United Jihad Council (UJC) on Thursday said that the UJC chief won’t be deterred by such tactics. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had on Wednesday summoned four of Salahuddin’s sons and Salahuddin’s son-in-law and brother of the son-in-law for questioning in a “terror funding” case dating back to 2011.
In an e-mailed statement issued to a local news agency, UJC spokesman Syed Sadaqat Hussain quoted the outfit’s General Secretary, Sheikh Jameel-ur-Rehman, as saying, “The tactics being used against Syed Salah-ud-din’s family can’t deter him to pursue the struggle. He is the heir of lakhs of martyrs. The tactics being used by India won’t succeed.”
Sheikh condemned the arrest and harassment of Salahuddin’s family members. “The revengeful tactics are being used against the people of Kashmir including the youth and the leadership but despite that the struggle would continue at any cost,” he said.
