Calls for stopping of bloodshed in Kashmir, release of Shabir Shah
London: Kashmiri activists held a peaceful demonstration in London on the eve of Commonwealth Day and stressed upon stopping of bloodshed in Kashmir and releasing of political prisoners of Kashmir.
The activists call for release of Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) incarcerated chief Shabir Shah.
The Queen of Britain every year hosts dinner for all the Commonwealth Members representatives on March 12, and talks to them on various issues.
The Government of Britain this year has allowed only six Kashmiris to hold their protest near the inner gate through which all the dignitaries and the Queen of Britain passes.
The protesters were holding placards and banners depicting slogans like “Stop genocide of Kashmiris”, “We want freedom” and “Free Shabir Shah”.
At the end of the protest demonstration, the advocate of the Kashmiri Movement in Britain, Irshad Malik, told media that “Common Wealth member countries, especially Britain, has the moral responsibility to find a solution to the long pending Kashmir dispute.”
He informed that youths are being killed on daily basis in Kashmir and Kashmiri pro-freedom leaders as well as common people are being jailed every now and then.
While expressing concern over the continuous incarceration of JKDFP chief Shabir Ahmad Shah, Irshad Malik told media that two decades back the human rights watch dog, Amnesty International, termed Shabir Shah as “Prisoner of Conscience” and unfortunately the same “Prisoner of Conscience” is going to complete his 31 years in jails.
“Shabir Shah’s continuous incarceration is political vendetta as he is being targeted only for advocating for peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute,” Malik said.
“Shabir Shah has been jailed in the infamous Tihar jail, Delhi after a fabricated case was registered against him last year,” Malik told media in Britain.
He impressed upon the justice and freedom loving people to break their silence on the continuous incarceration of Shabir Shah.
