Brief exchange of fire in Hajin, militants flee

Srinagar: Two militants managed to flee the cordon of government after exchanging gunfire during wee hours of Friday in North Kashmir’s Hajin.
An official said that at least two militants were trapped in government forces cordon launched around Khos Mohalla area of Hajin at 3 in the morning.
Witnesses said that the exchange of gunfire continued for about 15 minutes while as cordon stayed intact, however on searching further “no militant was found,” an official said.
Soon after the exchange of gunfire, clashes also broke after youth hurled stones at government forces and in retaliation were chased away with teargas shells.
