SRINAGAR: SKIMS caters heavy rush of patients in Outdoor Patient Departments (OPDs) per day with 1200 new patients being attended by various specialties every day, an official statement said on Wednesday.
It said on average, 3150 visits take place per day which includes follow up visits, accident emergency revisits, new cancer registrations and cancer revisits.
“As many as 32 OPDs of various specialties are run every day. The major departments include General Medicine, Urology, Nephrology, Neurology, Cardiology, Medical Oncology, Surgical Gastroenterology, Surgical Oncology etc,” the statement said.
Director SKIMS Dr Omar Javed Shah in a statement said that OPD, being the major service area, is on top priority which witnesses and caters huge patient rush and provides various services like investigations, counselling, screening and sample collection.
“In view of this, it was expanded and recently inaugurated by chief minister and has come as a major relief to patients as it has eased rush of patients who come from far flung areas for treatment to this institute,” he said.
Medical Joint Superintendent & Faculty In-Charge Medical Records, Dr Farooq Jan, informed that there are 1200 new registrations, 1554 patient revisits, 387 Accident & Emergency registrations, 13 RCC new registrations and 210 RCC revisits per day besides sample collection and screening.
“The administration ensures smooth functioning of these specialties and help poor patients,” Dr Jan said.
