SRINAGAR: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Hurriyat Conference on Wednesday said all efforts to muzzle the “genuine and sacred” struggle of Kashmir through military might, harassment and repression on people won’t succeed.
“Instead the move is fraught with dangerous consequences for the region where which clouds of war between India and Pakistan are already hovering over,” spokesperson of the conglomerate said in a statement.
He said a war-like situation on the borders in J&K is the outcome of the deteriorating situation in Kashmir and to end the decades of hostility between two nuclear powers, India and Pakistan, the resolution of Kashmir issue as per the wishes and aspirations of people is highly inevitable.
“Those at the helm in New Delhi are deliberately trying to hide and avoid the historic and political reality of Kashmir dispute, which is promoting further tension in the region,” he said.
Meanwhile, a delegation of the amalgam comprising Mushtaq Ahmed Sofi, Advocate Yasir Dalal, Peer Ghulam Nabi, Farooq Ahmed Saudagar, and others visited the residence of Muhammad Eissa Fazili at Ahmad Nagar, Srinagar and expressed solidarity with the family members on behalf of Hurriyat and its chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq who remains under “illegal” house arrest.
The delegation paid rich tributes to Eissa, saying the youth are sacrificing for a “sacred and great cause” and the leadership and the people are duty bound to take the mission of martyrs to its logical end.
