PAMPORE: District administration on Wednesday launched anti-encroachment drive against the illegal structures along Srinagar-Jammu national highway and demolished several structures.
The demolition drive, headed by the Tehsildar Mohammad Younis, was carried out from Padgampora, Awantipora in which several structures falling in the alignment of the national highway were demolished, officials told Kashmir Reader.
Revenue officials in Pampore also launched anti-encroachment drive on the national highway at Lethpora area of Pampore Tehsil and demolished few shops on falling in the vicinity of highway.
DC Pulwama Ghulam Mohammad Dar told Kashmir Reader that they had in advance warned the encroachers but those who did not follow the orders were dealt strictly.
“I once again appeal people not to encroach upon the highway land and any such step would just waste their resources only,” he said adding that authorities would not allow any construction along the highway.
District administration has already imposed a blanket ban on illegal constructions along the national highway and had declared it as non-construction zone from Kadlabal Pampore to Mirzapur.
Meanwhile, many illegal structures were demolished as administration launched anti-encroachment drive at Reshipora area of Kulgam district on Wednesday, local sources said.
