Armed men loot Rs 6 lakh in Kulgam

Shopian: A group of armed men Monday looted Rs 6 lakh from the personal vehicle of a bank manager who was on his way to his office in Kapren area of South Kashmir’s district Shopian.
The official who was on his way from Kulgam in his swift car to his Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch of Kapran carrying Rs 6 lakh cash was intercepted by a group of gunmen and took away the cash after beating the officials, police said.
A police officer said the bank officials were beaten up by the armed men before they took away the cash and fled the spot.
Police have started the investigations into the incident. Later the officials were brought to district hospital Kulgam and their condition was declared stable.
Station House Officer Shopian, Gulzar Ahmad confirmed incident to Kashmir Reader and said that bank manager was not in the vehicle.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Shopian told Kashmir Reader that militants were involved in the robbery.
Earlier last month Rs 57000 were looted by unknown burglars from an ATM of Kachdora branch of Jammu and Kashmir Bank.
