SRINAGAR: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) on Sunday started a two-day exhibition-cum-seed sale mela here at its Shalimar campus.
With a theme “Doubling Farmers Income”, the mela was jointly inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor, Central University Kashmir, Professor Mehraj-ud-Din Mir and Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-K, Professor Nazeer Ahmed, an official statement read.
The event aims at showcasing technologies developed by the SKUAST-K in the fields of agriculture, horticulture, sericulture, livestock, poultry, fisheries, aquaculture, farm machinery and tools.
Besides, officers of the university and heads of line departments the inaugural ceremony was also attended by private entrepreneurs, firms, pesticide and fungicide dealers, farmers, general public, NGOs, school and college students.
The farmers also interacted with the experts and sought their opinion related to various agricultural issues.
The university campus was abuzz as people from all walks of life thronged to purchase different types of seed and planting materials, especially high-density fruit plants, flower seedlings and seeds, forestry plants, fish, poultry birds, silk, mushroom and agriculture machinery and tools besides other agriculture products, it added.
