SRINAGAR: National Conference (NC) leaders from Kathua district of Jammu on Saturday made a passionate appeal for peace and tranquillity, saying communal amity and inclusiveness has been core of the ethos of the “land of warriors”.
A party statement said that at a specially convened meeting here, the district functionaries sought fair and impartial probe into the rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Kathua, saying the criminal should be delivered exemplary punishment for the heinous crime. They decried attempts of politicising and communalising the issue, saying that crime is a crime and the criminal must get punishment for his crime.
Presided over by district president Ajit Kumar, the meeting pledged that the NC cadre will work for peace and preserving the communal harmony and isolate all those politicising the issue.
