Jammu: Gujjar activist Talib Hussain on Saturday said that an “active member” of the Hindu Ekta Manch (HEM), who is the caretaker of a temple, was the mastermind behind the rape and murder of the 8-year-old Gujjar girl in Kathua.
Hussain, who is related to the victim’s family, expressed satisfaction with the Crime Branch’s investigation monitored by the High Court, even as he demanded the immediate arrest of the mastermind.
“The Crime Branch, which has done a commendable job so far, should arrest the mastermind and should not fear any protests by Ekta Manch,” he said.
“The mastermind, who is in charge of a temple, namely Devisthan temple, kept the victim inside the temple for a few days,” Hussain told GNS.
Hussain said the HEM was formed to shield the culprit. “Members of the Ekta Manch are violating the law on the behest of a few cabinet ministers and are openly terrorising the people in Chadwal, Kotah,” Hussain said.
He said Vijay Kumar Sharma, president of the HEM, was openly issuing communal statements. “Action should be taken against such people,” he said.
