Troops clash on LoC, Indian army soldier injured

Baramulla: India and Pakistan troops exchanged fire along Line of Control in Uri’s Hajipeer area on Friday resulting in injury to an army soldier.
Sub divisional police officer (SDPO) Uri Javid Ahmad confirmed that a soldier was wounded in firing along the LoC on Friday morning. He, however, said firing has stopped now.
The injured soldier identified as Param Veer Singh of 17 Jatt regiment was removed to 92 base army hospital for treatment.
An official source said that India and Pakistan troops clashed with each other near Jaan Peer Baba close to Churanda village. Locals said that they heard firing on Friday morning, triggering panic among the residents.
Last month, three people including a woman were injured while around 90 houses were damaged in a week-long cross LoC firing in five villages of Hajipeer area of Uri. The clashes resulted in migration of hundreds of people to safety.
Meanwhile, Indian army claimed Pakistani troops on Friday fired mortars along LoC in Poonch, drawing heavy retaliation from the Indian Army.
“The Pakistan army initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing of small arms, automatics and mortars from 0930 hours in Poonch sector along the LoC in Rajouri district,” a defence spokesman told
