PULWAMA: Government forces called off a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on Thursday evening in Monghama village in Pulwama district, after two-hour-long clashes and stone-pelting by youths in the area. Government forces restored to heavy teargas shelling to disperse the protesters, locals said. The clashes continued for about two hours during the search operation and ended only after the cordon was lifted at 7.30pm.
SSP Pulwama Mohammed Asalam Choudhry told Kashmir Reader that a joint team of government forces launched the search operation on specific inputs about presence of militants in the village. He said clashes broke out during the operation but no one was injured.
The search operation called off as no militant was found in the area, he said.
