Shopian shuts for fourth straight day against killings

Srinagar: Shopian district in south Kashmir is observing complete shutdown on fourth consecutive day Thursday against the recent killings at the hands of Army soldiers.
Unarmed Suhail Ahmad Wagay son Khalid Ahmad Wagay of Pinjora, Shahid Khan son of Bashir Ahmad Khan of Malik Gund, Shahnawaz Wagay son of Ali Mohammad of Langandora Trenze, and Gowhar Ahmad Mir of Molu Dangerpora, were killed by army in a shootout at Puhnoo village on Sunday last. Militants, Amir Ahmed Malik of Harmain and Ashiq Ahmad of Rakpora, were also killed in the shootout.
Due to the situation arisen from the said killings, the government has closed all educational institutions till Friday.
The government has announced the closure of such institutions in south Kashmir till Saturday.
Reports from interior villages of Shopian said that situation was very tense as people demand the removal of the Puhnoo army camp.
Shops and business establishments are closed while as public transport is off the roads.
