Srinagar: Clashes between protesters and government forces erupted in Mimender and mini secretariat areas of south Kashmir’s Shopian on Wednesday.
Government forces were deployed in large numbers in the area when scores of youth defying restrictions started raising slogans and pelting stones on forces.
Local sources said the forces retaliated with tear smoke shells to disperse the stone pelting protesters.
Clashes between protesters and forces also erupted in the mini secretariat area of the south Kashmir town.
Authorities had locked the Shopian town to thwart a protest march called by the resistance leadership against the recent killings.
Four civilians and two militants were killed in force’s action in Puhnoo village of Shopian on Sunday evening.
