5 injured as CRPF vehicle collides with cab in Qazigund

QAZIGUND: At least five people including a woman and a minor boy were injured after a CRPF vehicle collided with a passenger vehicle, here in Qazigund area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
The mishap took place near the Qazigund fly-over along the Srinagar-Jammu national highway.
The injured have been identified as Sajad Ahmad Dar, 13, son of Afroz Ahmad Dar, Maqsood Ahmad Dar, 60, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar, his wife Fareeda, and Javed Ahmad Dar, 47, son of Mohammad Maqbool Dar all residents of Dangerpora Sopore. The identity of fifth injured could not be ascertained.
According to reports a CRPF vehicle-returning to its nearby base-hit a passenger vehicle (Tavera), JK18-8194, on way to Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
“A family from Sopore was on their way home from Jammu when their Tavera collided with a CRPF vehicle,” a senior police official told Kashmir Reader.
He said that the injured were shifted to the nearby Trauma Hospital and then to Srinagar.
Medical Superintendent (MS) of the hospital, Dr Rafiq Dhobi, told Kashmir Reader that four injured were brought to the hospital.
“Almost all of them had fractures. But a kid, about 12 to 13 years of age, had a head injury as well,” Dhobi said, adding that the injuries were not life threatening.
“I hope all of them will survive,” he said.
Police meanwhile have taken cognizance and a case has been registered into the incident.
