JAMMU: Khurshid Andrabi, Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir met Governor N.N. Vohra, Chancellor of the University, at the Raj Bhavan here on Monday.
A Spokesperson said that Andrabi briefed Governor about all major issues relating to the University’s working. Governor urged the VC to ensure adherence to the Semester system but ensure that courses were completed timely and there was no delay in the conduct of examinations and declaration of results.
Governor re-iterated the high importance of all members of the Faculty remaining responsible for completing the courses and also protecting their pupils from non-scholastic influences.
Meanwhile Prof. R.D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, also called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan.
Governor complimented Prof. Sharma and his colleagues for the successful organization of 17th Convocation of the University which was held yesterday.
Prof. Sharma briefed the Governor about several important issues relating to the University’s functioning, which included the urgent need to create permanent posts for teaching and non-teaching staff for the 5 off-site campuses of Kishtwar, Poonch, Udhampur, Ramnagar and Reasi and the requirement of funds for completion of buildings in the off-site campuses to make them operational.
Governor advised the VC to urgently put in place an online system for securing the requisite feedback from students for undertaking a qualitative assessment of the teaching faculty and convening of a meeting of Joint Committee of both Universities to finalize the seniority list of teaching Faculty.
