SRINAGAR: The joint resistance leadership (JRL) on Monday said the Shopian “massacre” has “once again demonstrated the brutal face of Indian democracy in Kashmir”.
In a statement, the JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik, said, “RSS-backed PDP regime along with all pro-India politicians and political parties are directly responsible for this massacre.”
The statement said Malik who led protest in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk was arrested along with others.
“Syed Ali Geelani continues to remain under house detention while as Mirwaiz Umar Farooq along with Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Muhammad Ashraf Laya, Bilal Ahmad Sideeqi has been placed under house arrest from yesterday. Police has also arrested Umar Adil Dar and many others and locked them at various police stations,” the statement said.
Terming the “massacre” at Shopian by Indian “colonial” forces as “another example of brutal Indian aggression”, Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik said, “The Indian trigger happy forces and police are deployed to kill Kashmiris and pro-India politicians and political parties especially RSS-backed Mehbooba regime is deployed to provide a legal cover to these killers.”
“The pro-India politicians and rulers are directly responsible for these massacres and will have to answer for their crimes in accordance with the law of retribution. Kashmir has been turned into a slaughter house where the lives of young and old, men, women and children are target of Indian bullets.”
“Indian forces and army soldiers have turned into blood sucking vampires for Kashmiris. These gruesome crimes committed by Indian armed men is the consequence of the immunity provided to them by pro-India Kashmiri politicians, assembly, parliament and panchayat members, their parties who legislate and implement laws like AFSPA to shelter these criminals and their crimes,” the leadership said.
The JRL added, “Though this genocide is going on for the last many decades but the way Indian soldiers at the behest of their political masters have expedited this killing spree has turned the situation horrible.”
It said the “statements of pro-India rulers and politicians and announcements of so-called probes (are) mere eye wash”. “The staying of probe against army major openly involved in killing of three civilians in Shopian by the Supreme Court of India, despite an FIR being lodged against him in name by the police, is a travesty of justice,” it said.
“Not that people of Kashmir, from their experience, have any hope of justice, what is more shocking and deceitful in this case is that the counsel for so-called J&K government told the court that the name of the accused major, Aditya Kumar, does not feature in the FIR, while they all along were beating the drum that the accused in the case has been identified and named and definitely justice will be done.”
“These spineless collaborators think that people can be taken for a ride by their false promises and antics of empathy and sympathy with them where as people know it well that the promises made by these collaborators have no value, and their only aim is to stay on the chair at any cost,” the leaders said.
