Bandipora: Residents of Bandipora on Monday joined hands to form a civil society for addressing developmental issues of the area.
The members vouched to keep the forum away from any political affiliation with any mainstream party. “The civil society is a non-political forum of respected individuals from the district,” a press handout said.
It added that it is an initiative by the concerned locals to come together under one roof so that social and economic issues, developmental issues are highlighted before the government and administration.
“The society will act as a bridge between public and authorities,” society spokesperson informed Kashmir Reader.
It will educate and inform common masses about their rights and will facilitate people’s opinions about various social and economic issues,”a spokesperson added. The statement also reads that the sole purpose of the civil society is to work for the welfare of the people of Bandipora.
The 25 members of the society voted Ghulam Nabi Mir as Chairman, Ahamadullah Shah as Vice Chairman, Farooq Ahmad Malik as General secretary, Mir Asif Mushtaq as legal advisor and publicity secretary, Meharaj-ud-din as Secretary, Ghulam Nabi Mir as cashier and 15 others as executive members.
