Mud snow slide hits Kupwara Keran road, BEACON driver killed

Kupwara: A BEACON driver killed after a snow mud slide hits Kupwara Keran road on Sunday.
Official sources in the police said that a group of BEACON labours of 109 RCC GRIF were pressed into service by authorities to clear snow on Kupwara Keran road from past few days, however on Sunday when they reached near the Firkiyan top and a bulldozer along with at least ten labours were working, a mud and snow slide hits the road in which the bulldozer was completely buried under the slide along with its driver.
The sources said, the labours along with the machine just inform the nearby army camps who immediately reached the spot and start a rescue operation in which they evacuate the injured driver Amaandeep Singh (belt no. 15588066 L)and shift to nearby army hospital.
SSP Kupwara Shamshar Hussain told Kashmir Reader that the BEACON official who was injured in mud snow slide today on Kupwara Keran road succumbed in hospital. “Yes he succumbed in the hospital” SSP said.
Other labours who were also hit by the slide were identified as Shakoor Ahmad Piswal son of Gulzar Ahmad and Mohammad Sumander Mir son of Suliman Mir residents of Firkiyan but they too were evacuated safely and they have no injuries.
