SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement chairman Zaffar Akber Bhatt Zaffar has expressed anguish and castigated authorities for shifting political prisoners from Central Jail Srinagar to Jammu jails, terming it “frustration and political vendetta” of government.
“The oppression and repression unleashed against Kashmiri detainees is highly condemnable, inhuman, undemocratic and coercive tactic,” Bhat said in a statement.
Zaffar appealed United Nations, international human rights organisations to take serious note of shifting of political prisoners and ill treatment to them and take steps to release all political prisoners who are languishing in various jails in India.
He demanded immediate shifting of all political prisoners back to their homeland jails.
Meanwhile, criticising the participation of two cabinet ministers in an event organised by a right-wing outfit in Kathua, Zaffar said it was a shameful act on part of the government and the BJP ministers to participate in the rally in favour of the accused (in the rape and murder case of an eight-year-old girl).
“These ministers actually participated (in the) rally to threaten minority community of area. It is strange that the ministers instead of supporting the investigation process are supporting the crime. They are criminalising the situation and creating the gap between two communities,” Zaffar said.
Bhat said the criminals and murderers responsible for the heinous crime must be hanged publicly.
