JAMMU: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Sunday said that the students of Jammu and Kashmir have shown unprecedented resilience by living in the midst of a disturbed atmosphere and yet excelling academically.
Delivering the convocation address at the 17th convocation of Jammu University here, the Finance Minister said: “If all had been well historically, given God’s gift of its best pilgrimage and tourist centres, best agriculture, limited population, handicrafts, large area, etc., Jammu and Kashmir should have been theoretically the most affluent part of this country, but unfortunately the curse of insurgency struck us.”
He said industries in the country prior to 1991 were mostly regulatory, while post 1991 these became market-driven and this provides huge opportunities in the country’s current career market.
