Sopore: A 30-year-old man pretending to be a militant so as to extort money from businessmen was on Saturday arrested in north Kashmir, police said.
Manzoor Ahmed Hajam, son of Mohammad Sultan Hajam, resident of Seer Jagir Sopore was threatening innocent persons with a toy gun to extort money, police said.
Police officials told Kashmir Reader that the man was held after he tried to extort money from a businessman in north Kashmir’s Nowpora village.
Station House Officer Pattan, Saleem Ahmed, said that based on a complaint from the businessman, police arrested one person who was extorting money by threatening to kill him.
He said that the person is in police custody and further investigation has been taken up.
