SRINAGAR: The Vigilance Organisation Kashmir has registred an FIR against the Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University and some other officers of the varsity, and also against former Medical Superintendent of SMHS Hospital for facilitating entry of an ineligible candidate as Medical Officer at the university.
A statement issued by the vigilance organisation on Saturday said that the Vice Chancellor, and other officers and officials of Kashmir University in connivance with screening officer (Medical Superintendent of SMHS Hospital Srinagar), who was nominated by the vice chancellor as screening officer, had selected and appointed an ineligible candidate, namely Dr Suraya Jan, to the post of Medical Officer illegally and fraudulently by abuse of their official position as public servants.
The candidate was appointed against an advertisement published by authorities of Kashmir University dated 11-12-2014. The candidate appointed did not qualify as per terms and conditions laid down in the advertisement notice.
The commission of this act is an offence under Section 5(1) (d) PC Act Samvat 2006 read with section 120-B of RPC punishable U/S 5(2) of the Act.
Accordingly, Case FIR No. 04/2018 P/S VOK was registered and investigation taken up, the statement said.
