Ahmad: Due to the washing away of a maiden wooden bridge in Rajwar Handwara, three villages have been cut off from the rest of the world.
Residents said that the temporary wooden bridge connecting at least three villages Doodipora Check and Bakihakhe with Handwara Rajwar road, washed away Friday morning when the water level in the Bakihakhe stream increased due to incessant rains from Thursday.
Residents also said that the government had started the construction on a concrete bridge several years ago but due to some unknown reasons the work has been stopped on the project from past two years.
They appealed the government to restart the construction work of their concrete bridge.
“We have been left with no other option. Now we have to wait for the water level to go down. Government is claiming of doing a lot on the development front in the state, but here residents of three villages have been left to fend for themselves,” they said.
