KANGAN: The residents living in the jurisdiction of sub-division Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district are facing immense hardship “as the authorities have not given revenue powers to SDM Kangan from the past two months.”
Sources told Kashmir Reader that two months ago government transferred SDM Kangan Gulam Mustafa Indrabi and posted new SDM Kangan Mehraj-Ud-Din Shah, but the revenue department has not granted powers to new SDM to issue state subjects, due to which scores of common people are affected, and the students and job seekers have been worst affected .
Resident alleged that the complete administrative failure has multiplied the problems for the people who for the want of state subjects are running from pillar to post.
As per the JKPSGA, each individual who applies for state subject, should get it within one month and if the concerned authority fails to issue the state subject within the specified period, it’s liable to pay fine between Rs 500-5000 towards the applicant. The Act was framed to ensure that public services are given to people within specific time limit.
Javid Ahmad, a local, said, “The state government is violating its own Act. When an Act is violated by the state itself that means they are working against the Act itself.”
“I have been visiting the concerned SDM office at Kangan from the past several weeks. But I don’t understand why newly posted SDM has not been granted powers to issue state subject certificates,” said Irshad Ahmad, a Student.
Mohammad Iqbal, another resident, said, “I am visiting SDM Kangan office constantly, but there seems no remedy to our woes. Our children’s are suffering for the want of state subjects and even some of them are unable to apply for jobs.”
When contacted Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Dr Piyush Singla told Kashmir Reader that they have already taken up the matter with the concerned revenue officials and very soon this issue will be resolved.
