Day 2: Bandipora doctors, paramedics on strike, demand salary

Bandipora: The strike call called by the medical and paramedical staff of Bandipora district against non-release of salary entered the second day.
The protesting employees blamed mismanagement of higher officials for non-release of their salary.
The tussle between the two CMO’s has created a void in administrative setup, following which no officer is in a capacity to disburse their salary.
The employees informed Kashmir Reader that official signatures of the CMO who has been given an additional charge for the release of salary is not accepted by the government and the treasury officials.
“we have written to the Directorate of health, but issue is yet to be resolved,” they said.
The strike has rendered hospital has severely affected health care in the district.
The BMO said that “only emergency department of the hospital is operational as of now, and the call for a strike would be extended if the government would not resolve the issue at the earliest,” he said.
The doctors and paramedical staff Wednesday locked BMO office and staged a sit-in protest against CMO and higher authorities.
