SRINAGAR: Contingent paid Workers (CPWS) of the education department Thursday held a protest demonstration here in press colony on Thursday to press for regularisation of their services and hike in wages.
The protesters raised the slogans against the government for not fulfilling their demands.
The protesters said that they are demanding a job policy from the government and benefits under Minimum Wages Act.
Abdul Rahman Mir, a contingent paid worker said “we work round the clock in the school. We have every right to get regularised. If the government has already decided regularization of 60,000 casual labours and daily wagers under S.R.O 520. Why the state government ignored us” Mir said.
The protesters threatened to launch a hunger strike and lock down the schools If their demands are not fulfilled by the government.
Later protesters tried to march towards Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK), policemen deployed in strength scuttled their move.
