Petitioner claims OM candidate selected under RBA, HC puts stay
Srinagar: The J&K High court has stayed the selection of an Executive Officer in J&K Khadi Villages and Industries Board in the recently announced list.
The court while staying selection of Dheeraj Singh of Doda directed authorities to provide details of the examination.
Justice Janak Raj Kotwal stayed the selection after a petition was submitted in the court stating that an Open Merit candidate has been selected in Reserved category “for which there is no law framed till date”.
Petitioner Bazil Rashid of Anantnag through his counsel GA Lone also said that the conduct of examination and interview for the post of executive officer was “a farce”.
The petition states that the candidate Dheeraj Singh has applied for the post of executive officer in open merit.
“In a bizarre manner through a process unknown to service jurisprudence, he has been selected under RBA category,” the petition said.
The petitioner’s counsel stressed that the whole examination for Khadi Board and Industries Board appears to be a farce with many “arbitrations”.
He stated that his petitioner belongs to the reserved category and has merit to claim the appointment but he has shown in waiting list.
Justice Kotwal directed the authorities to provide court with statement of facts immediately, otherwise the court would take petitioner’s plea as final.
The state government has already ordered a probe into the allegations of backdoor appointments the Board (KVIB) after fingers were raised against selection of Chief Minister’s cousin in the list.
